Our Ys, Our Movement, Our Community Impact

Since 1885, the YMCA has been dedicated to serving the communities of Texas! We know that when we speak and act with one voice, we can move individuals, communities and the Lone Star State forward. As the leading charity committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Texas Ys create opportunities for men, women and children of all ages to learn together, strengthen their bodies and minds, and build community. Working together with our members and volunteers, the Y effectively addresses critical community needs and reaches out to every corner of the state, especially to the most vulnerable populations in our communities.

The Y is for everyone. We are for all. Our initiatives, services, and programs give children the chance to reach their full potential, prepare teenagers for college, and provide family-friendly activities. The Y provides people with the tools to live healthier lives in spirit, mind, and body, helps people get ready for the workforce, welcomes and accepts newcomers, and supports a culture of service across the country. And that’s only the beginning.

As each Y works strives to provide support to families and neighbors within their respective communities, the Texas State Alliance of YMCAs works to foster statewide communication and collaboration and advocate for public policies that support the children, families and communities we serve. Take a look at what this extraordinary group of dedicated nonprofits is doing to make a difference in people’s lives for over 135 years!
