Youth Development

Nurturing the potential of every child and teen. A long-time leader in youth development, YMCAs across Texas provide care for over 600,000 children and teens. Collectively, the Texas State Alliance of YMCAs is the largest licensed provider of care for Texas youth. With devoted, caring and skilled staff running Pre-K (at Ys and ISDs), Early Learning, Child Care and Out-of-School-Time programs, we are at the forefront of child development. Every day, our youth are cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and education achievements. That’s our Y.

Did you know, The Y is also involved in teaching young leaders the importance of civic engagement, leadership development, and character building? Find out more at YMCA Texas Youth & Government.

Healthy Living

Improving the nation’s health and well-being. The Texas State Alliance of YMCAs goal is simple – create a healthier Texas. We offer a variety of wellness classes and outreach services to promote healthy life through mind, body, and spirit.

We foster connections through fitness, sports, and shared interests, and encourage good health by bridging the gap between clinic and community. Nearly 990,000 Texans are actively engaged members at a local Y; and over 475,000 families participate in Y signature programs like our LIVESTRONG program, Diabetes Prevention Program, Safe Around Water and others.

Social Responsibility

Giving back and providing support to our neighbors. Every generation has the power to drive change. The Y amplifies the voices and power for people of all ages and demographics. For nearly 170 years, we have served as a local safe haven to community members in need. Recently, we added the designation of being a certified Space Place and we are proud.

Whether developing skills through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse populations through global services or preventing chronic disease and building healthier communities; the Y fosters the care and respect all people deserve. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and we leverage that to help support children, families, and communities across Texas. Our goal is to continue to enhance the Y’s partnerships by delivering quality, vital programs and essential services to the community; especially those that are under-served. We are able to do these services and provide financial assistance because of the stewardship and philanthropic support from private and public donors like you.
